Historical Down Town Hilo: (Drive-through narration )

Lunch: Stop by a local vendor called Manono Mini Mart. Customers get their food to go in which they can then eat in the vehicle or when they get to the Volcano National Park. We sometimes use other vendors as well.

Big Island Candies 15 min: Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.

While this is a very dynamic situation that is subject to change at any moment, the lava lake has crusted over and eruptive activity ceased as of May 27th, 2021 The lava like does continue to smolder a large cloud and a possible glow can be seen but is far in the distance.

  • What is the temperature at the Volcanoes National Park?

The Volcanoes National Park sits at 4,000 ft on top of KÄ«lauea volcano. We recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket.  Temperature varies from 52°F to 77°F

  • Should I bring a rain poncho?

Rain and fog are frequent so it is worth bringing a poncho.

  • Can you accommodate a wheelchair, scooter or walker?

Yes, both must be collapsible and not weigh over approx. 35 lbs. Must be able to fit through our bus doors as we do not have a lift. Someone in your group will need to be able to lift the wheelchair or scooter in and out of the bus. Please note this is something we will need to know in advance in order to be sure you are put in the correct vehicle that can accommodate you.

  • Is there swimming on this tour?

We will be stopping by the black sand beach however there is no snorkeling or swimming on this tour.

  • What about the Mauna Loa Eruption

The Mauna Loa Volcano eruption has not affected this tour. However, Mauna Loa is still currently an active volcano and things can change without notice. The Mauna Loa volcano eruption is still currently a long ways away from the Volcanoes National Park.
