Tour travels south to Kealakekua Bay, home of the Captain Cook monument. Along the way we stop at historical sites and talk about local legends and points of interest. Our skilled captains watch for whales and dolphins. If the ocean conditions permit we will let guest “splash” into the ocean for the dolphins to swim up and play with them. Once in Kealakekua Bay we snorkel there for apx 1 hour. Guest can expect to see turtles, bright colored reef fish, coral that’s over 1500 years old, the Captain Cook Monument, fresh water springs, and be on the lookout for Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins.

Yes! we can swim and snorkel with the wild spinner dolphins in Kona Hawaii. Our local dolphins are loving and friendly and choose to interact with us. Remember the dolphins are wild and if they don't want to be with us they can just swim off opposed to a dolphin in captivity.
No, under the Marine Mammal Protection Act in the United States, it is illegal to harass, hunt, capture, or kill any marine mammal. Reaching out to pet a dolphin is unnatural and is considered a threat to the dolphin. To encounter the best experience with our hawaii spinner dolphins we recomend not reaching out for them and keeping calm as they swim to you.
First of all dolphins in the wild never eat dead fish. Doing this would be interfering with the dolphins natural food intake, hunting instincts and their balanced diet. You can absolutely not feed the wild spinner dolphins in Hawaii.
We interact with the marine species in their wild state, encounters are not 100% certain. We do have sighting rates of 95% of the time. This trip also includes several other great things to see besides dolphins, such as Kealakekua Bay, captain cook monument, sea caves, coral reefs and tropical fish.
Possibly yes. The Honu, Hawaiian Sea Turtle and the Monk Seal are less likely to be seen, however they do surprise from time to time.
Please let the guides know upon check in if you have never snorkeled or are not a strong swimmer. Snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay near the cpatain cook monument is a very relaxing and laid back as you snorkel above all the beautiful hawaiian coral reef and view all of our wonderful tropical fish. It is very easy and we provide flotation belts. As for swimming and snorkeilng with the wild dolphins is pretty much easy but requires more of a stronger swimmer. If you feel uncomfortable we would recomedn watching the dolphins from the boat.
The waters in Hawaii range from 77 degrees F ( 25 degrees C ) in winter months and 82 degrees F ( 28 degrees C ) during summer months.
No sorry.
