Kailua Kona Pier large Banyan tree near the Kailua Kona Pier. When you get off the ship tender, please proceed toward the street. Pass the security gate to the pier and go to the large Banyan Tree. Look for guide holding a sign with “C Big Island Tours” written on it. This is an approximately 1 to 2 minute walk from the cruise pier. We ask all guests to please plan to be at the designated departure location at least 10 to 15 minutes before the departure time

Join us to Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, covered in black lava, along with a beautiful white sand beach, sets the scene of this hidden gem. Explore Hawaiian cultural history, Hawaiian archaeology, petroglyphs, ancient fishponds, and several sacred temples. This area is also home to our local wildlife, including local birds and the Hawaiian green sea turtles! There is an optional 30 min – 40 min trail walk for passengers wanting to stretch their legs, and for those who like a more relaxing stroll, a shorter trail ( 100 yards 10 min walk ) is available to get to the sea turtles. Kailua-Kona was primarily a small fishing village. Now the historic seaside town hosts many historical sites, souvenir shops and markets. Going south towards South Kona and through Captain Cook Village, we will visit the famous nick named, “Painted Church”, due to its painted 3D depictions of the bible in the interior wooden walls all done with ordinary house paint.
Along the volcanic slopes is a perfect climate for our famous Kona Coffee. Hawaii is the only U.S. state that grows coffee and the coffee beans are all hand-picked. Learn how Kona coffee is grown, harvested and packaged. There is also a volcanic lava tube customers are able to walk through and explore. Enjoy the coffee museum will sampling some of kona’s finest coffee. Now let’s go tastes some sweet and buttery chocolates. A small local novelty shop with, “a sense of humor,” produces chocolate candies made with local Hawaiian fruit. There is a wide assortment from gourmet chocolate covered macadamia nuts, brittles, hot sauces and much more! To conclude this fabulous tour we offer an optional ending. Yep, that’s right, this tour has an optional ending and not everyone in your group has to do the same.
Option 1: Snorkel at Turtle Beach for about 1hr. If you decide to snorkel please remember your bathing suit and towel and money to rent snorkel gear from the vendors at the beach, unless you have your own.
Option 2: Shops and sites on Alii Dr. As mentioned earlier in the description, Alii Drive has many historical sites, souvenir shops and markets.
Option 3: Kona Brewery & Pub. At the end of a hot sunny day enjoy a locally crafted cold brew. This Kona brewery is famous for its classic ales and lagers, including, Longboard Island Lager, Big Wave Golden Ale, Hanalei Island IPA, Fire Rock Pale Ale and many more. This is also pub if you were wanting a local bite to eat before returning to the ship.
