– *Devastation area – Guide takes customers to the most recent and safest viewing area available on Kilauea Volcano. The guides go as far as the national guard lets them showing the recent lava flows that came through the town of Pahoa.
– *Lava Road – Guide takes customers where the lava flow just recently went over the road. Customers are allowed to get out and walk on this flow as the guide gives a presentation showing the group where the crater and vents are located and how the lava made its way to its current position. From this area customers can see the huge volcanic plume created by the erupting fissures and lava hitting the ocean.
Nearly 90% of the time the air quality is perfectly clear because our trade winds pushing all fumes away from Hilo. If air quality becomes bad we will then replace the last two stops with the following.
– Drive up the lush green Hamakua coast. Stop is made by Akaka Falls and Kahuna Falls. Also included is old sugar mill roads from the 1930’s, which includes our 4 miles scenic drive, Onomea broken Sea Arch.
